2021: Continuous Flow Interchange of Communication and Knowledge in Biomedical University Research
Project Promoter: Universitatea de Medicină și Farmacie „Iuliu Hatieganu“ Cluj-Napoca
Project Code: 21-COP-0034
Partners: University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine (UASVM – Cluj-Napoca, RO); University of Iceland (UI – Reykjavik, IS); University of Oslo (UO – Oslo, NO)
This project addresses a common problem at national level in Romania, represented by the need to increase the level of doctoral research through international collaboration with more advanced universities in terms of their educational offer – UI and UO. Flow cytometry has wide applications in human as well as veterinary medicine and is a powerful research tool as well as a highly reliable method for diagnosis and monitoring of therapy results in immunology and hematology. Therefore, there is an urgent need to support educational modules at the university level, focused on high- level training in research and the development of international standard operating procedures (SOPs), within a modern curriculum, available to all students and PhD students, in order to be integrated into their studies.
The proposed objectives, the development of scientific articles and SOPs on the e-platform, in collaboration with the Icelandic and Norwegian partners, make their research and clinical work easier, through the use of flow cytometry. A number of 20 students and PhD students from UMF „Iuliu Hatieganu“ and USAMV Cluj-Napoca, together with 16 members of the teaching staff, participated in mobility in Iceland and Norway. They participated in trainings and workshops, in the field of cytometry, and substantially improved their medical knowledge. The acquired knowledge will help them establish with greater ease and certainty a diagnosis in hematological diseases, as well as the immediate establishment of the treatment that the patients will benefit from.
